What is Technical Diving?

Technical diving is a term used to describe all diving methods that exceed the limits imposed on depth and/or immersion time for recreational scuba diving. Technical diving often involves the use of special gas mixtures (rather than compressed air) for breathing. Technical diving also requires the use of specific skills and procedures to reduce the risks associated with technical diving, such as decompression procedures.

Who we are, what we do...

DarkSide is a Technical training centre covering the whole range of technical diving courses. Established in 2015 as the technical training arm of Divestyle diving, DarkSide has been design to provide a quality assured technical diving training facility that will help you on your technical diving journey.

DarkSide is not a guarantee pass facility, you have to work for your certification and show our technical training team that you have the aptitude and attitude to be a safe technical diver, But don’t worry! Our instructors are here and ready to help you on the journey and get the best possible out of you!

We may train you hard but you will be smiling at the end of it.

Our Courses

To venture outside the world of recreational diving requires training and equipment beyond the scope of that learned in recreational scuba diving courses. Here at DarkSide we currently offer technical diving through the RAID training system and select courses from IANTD. Your training can take place in the UK or with your sister centre Techwise in Malta.

Just wanted to send a personal note of thanks for the past couple of weekends on the Tec courses. I’ve genuinely learnt a great deal and can now say that I have “found my reason” for wanting to get into Tec which is quite simply thanks to you!

I’m glad that I didn’t just run out and buy the kit just to do the course – a mistake I made when I started recreational diving – I now feel more confident in what kit I need and WHY I need it – something that you all contributed to and I thank you for that. I also feel that the lessons learnt on the course will positively affect the way I teach.
