Rebreathers are quite simply, the future of diving. They allow for extended dive times and an interaction with the aquatic environment that cannot be witnessed while on open circuit systems. Unlike open circuit, rebreathers recycle exhaled gas allowing for optimised use of the gas that is carried by the diver. Because of this, there is a minimal amount of bubbles exhaled, thereby allowing an interaction with fish life that is seldom, if ever, encountered on open circuit. The Hollis Explorer Electronic Semi Closed Rebreather is designed for the sport recreational market 0 – 40 metres/132 feet.
- The minimum age for participation is 18 years old when training commences.
- A non certified diver wanting to learn to dive this unit specific rebreather and enter the RAID training program needs to complete the Hollis Explorer Diver Specialty and the Level one rebreather core level training. This will certify you as an equivalent to an Open Water 20 diver on rebreather. The maximum depth for certification is 20 metres/66 feet. As your experience increases you may progress through the further core levels.
- A certified open circuit diver wanting learn to dive this rebreather can enter the RAID training program at either Level 2 or Level 3. Level 2 is the equivalent of an Explorer 30 Diver and certifies you as a diver to a maximum of 30 metres/99 feet. The Level 3 program combines Master Rescue diver with the Deep 40 specialty allowing you to dive to a maximum of 40 metres/ 132 feet.
For this course you will required to have use of the following:
1 x dive timer or enriched air (Nitrox gases) computer.
1 x slate
1 x SMBs and reel
1 x knife
1 x dive masks
1 x torch/light/underwater lamp
1 x exposure suit – a dry suit shall have interchangeable inflator system with BCD LP hose
Note: A RAID rebreather certification is not a dual certification, whereby the diver recieves certification for CCR and open circuit.
